چکیده

Residual stresses may exist in different finitely deformed soft multifunctional materials such as electro-active and magneto-active polymers. In order to develop accurate constitutive frameworks of these smart experiencing electro-magneto-mechanically coupled loads, the presence residual needs be considered on onset model development. this contribution, a spectral equation for finite strain magneto-electric material bodies with is developed using invariants, where each invariant has clear physical meaning. A prototype total energy function comprising single-variable functions proposed; that depends an direct meaning easily handled experimentally attractive. Results some boundary value problems are given. • framework proposed stress. The entire based physically motivated invariant. propose. Relevant numerical examples demonstrated significant influence stress problems.

Sensor Applications of Soft Magnetic Materials Based on Magneto-Impedance, Magneto-Elastic Resonance and Magneto-Electricity

The outstanding properties of selected soft magnetic materials make them successful candidates for building high performance sensors. In this paper we present our recent work regarding different sensing technologies based on the coupling of the magnetic properties of soft magnetic materials with their electric or elastic properties. In first place we report the influence on the magneto-impedanc...

Elastic Vector Solitons in Soft Architected Materials.

We demonstrate experimentally, numerically, and analytically that soft architected materials can support the propagation of elastic vector solitons. More specifically, we focus on structures comprising a network of squares connected by thin and highly deformable ligaments and investigate the propagation of planar nonlinear elastic waves. We find that for sufficiently large amplitudes two compon...

Soft-matter composites with electrically tunable elastic rigidity

We use a phase-changing metal alloy to reversibly tune the elastic rigidity of an elastomer composite. The elastomer is embedded with a sheet of low-melting-point Field’s metal and an electric Joule heater composed of a serpentine channel of liquid-phase gallium–indium–tin (Galinstan R ) alloy. At room temperature, the embedded Field’s metal is solid and the composite remains elastically rigid....

Characterizing the elastic property distribution of soft materials nondestructively

Soft materials have the advantage that their subsurface structure may be imaged utilizing imaging modalities such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (CT) scans, and optical coherence tomography. In recent decades subsurface displacement fi elds were successfully measured using these imaging modalities. These displacement fi elds are of time-harmonic, transient, or qu...

Propagation of dissection in a residually-stressed artery model

This paper studies dissection propagation subject to internal pressure in a residually-stressed two-layer arterial model. The artery is assumed to be infinitely long, and the resultant plane strain problem is solved using the extended finite element method. The arterial layers are modelled using the anisotropic hyperelastic Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden model, and the tissue damage due to tear propaga...
